Auricular Reflexology

Auricular Reflexology, also known as Ear Reflexology or Ear Acupressure, is based on the principle that the ears are microsystems that reflect the entire body. Just like Reflexology on the hands, feet and face, the ear is believed to have reflex points that correspond to different organs, glands, and body parts. By stimulating these points, we can help alleviate tension, improve circulation, ease pain, and encourage the body's natural healing mechanisms. This fast-growing therapy is not new, you can see records of treatments on the ears in the earliest Chinese medical books dating back to ancient times.

Auricular Reflexology involves the stimulation of the external part of the ear. Applying pressure to a specific point on the ear that corresponds to a specific point in the body, brings balance to that area either through an increase or decrease of energy. Chinese Acupuncture uses over 200 acupressure points on the ear. A selection of these is used in Auricular Reflexology. Instead of using needles, the points are stimulated using finger, thumb pressure and sometimes a probe.

This is a safe and efficient therapy, especially given the accessibility of the ears, which means that people do not have to remove any clothing to receive treatment. Due to the ears closeness to the brain and central nervous system it can often offer quicker results.

There are over 10,000 nerve endings in the ear with auricular branches of the vagus and trigeminal nerves coming to the surface. It is thought that these nerves and the close proximity to the brain enhance the speed and efficacy of auricular work.”  Allison Walker (2020)

Ear Seeding

The benefits of Auricular Reflexology can be enhanced by the placement of Ear Seeds on specific acupressure points on the ears to enable you support yourself between treatments. This non-invasive treatment stimulates pressure points on your ear with tiny Vaccaria seeds or Tourmaline beads. The overall aim of Ear Seed Placement is to alleviate specific symptoms and to improve your overall health and wellbeing.

Auricular Reflexology and Ear Seed Placement have demonstrated effectiveness in addressing various issues, including: appetite control, seasonal allergies, insomnia, headaches and migraines, neck and shoulder pain, digestive issues and hormonal imbalances.

It is not essential to have a full Ear Reflexology treatment to receive the benefits of Ear Seed Placement.  The placing of Ear Seeds can be added to Foot, Hand or Facial Reflexology treatments, for a small additional cost. If you find the Ear Seed Placement beneficial, and wish to have further Ear Seed Placements without a full Auricular Reflexology session, this can be done in a short 15mins session.

Hopi Ear Candling

Hopi Ear Candles are an ancient and natural therapy used by many civilisations for healing and cleansing. Today they are used extensively and can bring relief for symptoms of the ears, nose and throat like sinusitis, wax build up, migraines, headaches and tinnitus.

The Ear Candles used by Tola Health are hollow tubes made from organically grown flax, extracts of honey, beeswax and herbs or essential oils.

A treatment is deeply relaxing and involves inserting a candle gently into your ear. When lit there is a sucking action which draws impurities to the surface so they can be removed gently. The air rising up the ‘chimney’ gently massages the eardrum with its vibrations, which helps regulate pressures inside the ear.
