Reflexology Lymph Drainage
Reflexology Lymph Drainage is an award winning technique developed by Sally Kay for breast cancer survivors suffering from lymphoedema. The technique is supported by research by Sally in partnership with Cardiff Metropolitan University.
Lymphoedema is tissue swelling due to the failure of lymph drainage. It can occur throughout the body, but is most common in the arms and legs. This swelling is a result of excess fluid in the tissues which is not drained due to the Lymphatic System being damaged, defective or blocked. After cancer treatment, particularly breast cancer, a person may experience psychological or emotional difficulties due to altered body image, and a swollen limb can exacerbate this.
This gentle and non-invasive Reflexology technique focuses on stimulating the lymphatic reflexes on the feet. It can lead to a reduction in swelling, decrease in pain and discomfort, and improved mobility. It may also be used to support anyone with oedema, inflammatory or auto-immune conditions.
